Oklahoma-born jazz musician Sam Rivers passed away on December 26, 2011, in Orlando, Florida at 88.
Rivers began playing music in the church as a child. In his long career, Rivers played with Quincy Jones, Miles Davis, Dave Holland and many others. This Orlando Weekly article was written by a friend of the legendary saxophonist.
