The Chris Robinson Brotherhood December Dates & Beyond
The Chris Robinson Brotherhood formed around the fall of 2010. Within the year, the group gelled into a stellar rock & roll band. Tonight they play their mercurial music at The El Rey Theatre in L.A. They will play four shows at The Great American Music Hall in San Francisco Dec 12-15. On New Year's Eve, the Brotherhood performs in Hermosa Beach.
The Brotherhood includes Robinson (vocals/guitar), Neal Casal (guitar), Adam MacDougall (keyboards), Muddy Dutton (bass) and George Sluppick (drums). In the past, while away from The Black Crowes, Robinson has collaborated and performed with Jonathan Wilson, Gary Louris, The Truth & Salvage Company, The Jayhawks, Jackie Greene, Bob Weir and Phil Lesh.
Robinson will take the band into the studio to record a new album in January 2012. Recently, on LiveChrisRobinsonBrotherhood, show recordings have been made available, which include new songs such as "Rosalee", "Tulsa Yesterday" and "Star Or Stone". During shows the band also plays various older Robinson material ("Silver Car", "40 Days", "Sunday Sound"), a couple of Crowes songs ("Appaloosa", "I Ain't Hidin'") as well as an array of covers such as Hoyt Axton's "Never Been To Spain", Traffic's "Shouldna Took More Than You Gave", the Grateful Dead's "They Love Each Other" and Dylan's "Tough Mama".
During an October show in Oxford, MS, Luther Dickinson and Jimbo Mathus joined the Brotherhood for a grand version of "I Am A Pilgrim".
