Rick Bragg is renowned for his non-fiction books, especially those about his family in Alabama. Bragg, who was born in Piedmont, Alabama and grew up in the small community of Possum Trot, has authored five books in addition to his collected newspaper stories Somebody Told Me (2000). His books include All Over but the Shoutin,' Ava's Man, The Prince of Frogtown, I Am a Soldier, Too: The Jessica Lynch Story, and The Most They Ever Had.
Bragg won the Pulitzer Prize in 1996 for Feature Writing for his work at The New York Times. He is one of Alabama's most popular storytellers, and he is also a recipient of the coveted Harper Lee Award. Currently, Bragg is teaching in the Journalism Dept at the University of Alabama and writing for Southern Living magazine.
I will be blogging on Swampland about the event in Birmingham when I return home on Tuesday, September 27.
