Straw Dogs Out September 16
On September 16, the remake of Sam Peckinpah's savage film Straw Dogs hits theaters. Filmed in Bossier City, Louisiana, the 2011 Straw Dogs is the story of a Los Angeles screenwriter and his family relocating to the deep South and soon tensions with the locals develop.
Peckinpah's 1971 Straw Dogs took place in England. Peckinpah based his Straw Dogs screenplay on inspiration from a book called The Siege of Trencher's Farm by Gordon Williams. I'm interested to see how Rod Lurie adheres to Peckinpah's original cinematic vision.
Also, if you're a Sam Peckinpah fan, seek out David Weddle's book If They Move...Kill Em. They didn't call Peckinpah "Bloody Sam" for nothing...
