Swampland's Daily Duo of Reviews For 7/18/11: Jolie Holland and Dawes

Posted: Jul 18, 2011

This week Swampland debuts its "Daily Duo of Reviews" which gives us a chance to feature a couple of reviews each day and building a connection between them.

Our first two reviews in this daily series are Jolie Holland & The Grand Chandeliers' Pint Of Blood and Dawes' Nothing Is Wrong.  Holland is from Texas while Dawes is from Southern California, but their connection comes from their mutual aesthetic for music of the 70s.

Holland has already declared that her latest release was influenced by albums from the 70s like Neil Young's On The Beach.  Dawes has always been influenced by the Laurel Canyon sound of that era.  Dawes also has a long standing connection to North Carolina's Jonathan Wilson who has and produced both of their records and has been at the heart of the Laurel Canyon revival.
