GPB Films "Georgia Outdoors" on Altamaha River
Earlier this month, Georgia Public Broadcasting filmed for three days on the Altamaha River in southeast Georgia. Swampland Outdoor Editor Michael Gowen served as the tour guide for Georgia Outdoors host Sharon Collins.
This brief entry on Gowen's Southeast Adventure Outfitters blogsite provides some details: "After 3 days filming from the confluence down to tidal swamp we headed out to the mouth of the mighty Altamaha. We stayed on the Captain Gabby three days as the crew filmed the nesting pelicans on Egg Island Bar. It was incredible the amount of activity out there. Using the "Loose Goose" as a tender, we moved kayaks, people, and gear around. It was a pleasure working with Sharon, Shane, and Sue from GPB, and Patrick from the Gabby. The Altamaha River is incredibly large and remote, aptly described as "Georgia's little Amazon"."
Gowen's business Southeast Adventure Outfitters headquarters is located on St. Simons Island, Georgia. Check them out. Below are a few St. Simons-related articles. Stay tuned for local broadcasting schedule...
