Bikers and Southern Rockers: A Great New Ear-Book
Posted: Feb 12, 2007
Last Friday I received something very special in my mailbox. The postmark was from Germany, and I spotted the return address as being from my friend Michael Stein, the Editor of the European branch of
Easyriders magazine.
The book is called
Born to Be Wild: Harleys, Bikers and Music: Harleys, Bikers and Music for Easy Riders,
and it is what Michael calls an “ear book.” It was produced by Michael Stein and Michael Lichter, and includes four CD’s filled with Southern Rock, Classic Rock and Country music.
The oversize book is printed on heavy paper, with beautiful full page illustrations of bikers and their Harleys from all over the world.
When William S. Harley and Arthur Davidson added an engine to their bicycle out of necessity about 100 years ago, they never dreamed that this would become the cornerstone of a legend. Today, Harley Davidson is both cult and attitude towards life, inseparably linked to the ideas of freedom and adventure.
Born To Be Wild is an homage to this attitude.
The recordings included mostly center around the topic of the Harley and allow you to immerse yourself into the American dream, a dream that has long since conquered the whole world.
There are tracks from Lynyrd Skynyrd,The Allman Brothers Band, The Marshall Tucker Band, Molly Hatchet, Canned Heat, Jimi Hendrix, Motorhead, and Shania Twain, among others, making for the perfect background music for reading the book, enjoying the awesome photos, or just downloading to your iPod for that cross country Harley Davidson ride.
A beautiful book, with some great Southern Rockin’ music. Buffalo says “Check it out.”
Keep it Real. Keep it Southern. Take the Highway.
