Roy Orbison's Widow Honors Her Husband
Yesterday (April 22) would have been Roy Orbison's 75th birthday. His widow, Barbara, dicusses her husband's life and musical legacy in this interview.
Texas born Orbison began recording in 1956 on the Memphis label Sun Records. His hit "Only The Lonely" established Orbison as a voice for the lonely. Other notable songs such as "Claudette", "In Dreams", "It's Over" and "Oh, Pretty Woman" earned Orbison acclaim and respect among his peers. His voice proved influential on future musicians such as Del Shannon and the Beatles.
In the mid-80s, Orbison joined the Traveling Wilbury's with Bob Dylan, George Harrison, Tom Petty and Jeff Lynne. Orbison died of a heart attack in December of 1988. He deserves an eternal salute.
And today is Shakespeare's birthday...
