Bonnaroo’s Web site confirms that the Police will be a headliner for the June 14-17 festival, and that organizers will reveal the full lineup on Wednesday.
The Police’s first tour in 23 years begins May 28 at the GM Arena in Vancouver, reports Billboard.com, and will continue in arenas and stadiums internationally through the end of the year.
The Police opened the Grammy Awards on Sunday. Lead singer Sting, drummer Stewart Copeland and guitarist Andy Summers had reunited in 2003 in New York for a three-song set when the band was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, but until Sunday night, hadn’t performed together in public in more than two decades.
