Eddie Kirkland RIP
Blues guitarist Eddie Kirkland died on Sunday in Florida. Kirkland, born in Jamaica and raised in Dothan, Alabama, served as Otis Redding’s bandleader. He also worked with John Lee Hooker and Little Richard. He was 88.
Kirkland resided in Macon, Georgia, since 1962. He completed a four gig run in Florida on Saturday night. Kirkland was killed when his car turned into the path of an oncoming Greyhound bus. Kirkland recorded his last album, Orthodoxy, in 2008.
