Billy C. Farlow, Mercy Band, and Alabama Swamp Stomp

Hold on to your habaneros. Blues legend Billy C. Farlow is once again having too much fun with a brand new cd, and he is hotter than ever. In the spring of 2009, Billy C. recorded and toured in France with the Mercy Band: Jean-Paul Avellaneda (vocals and lead guitar), his son Stephane (drummer or batteur as I am learning to say), and Bruno Quinonero (back-up vocals and bass). Now their new album--Mercy Band and the Alabama Swamp Stomp--is set to be released in early 2011.

I had the great pleasure of meeting JP and Stephane when they came to the states and spent a week with us down here on Elk River last summer. What charming men and what talented musicians! JP made me the gift of the Mercy cd Magic and I have played it over and over. Magic is chock full of great music for rocking out, and JP's bluesy ballads speak to the soul. I don't even have to translate from the French. JP sings in perfect English. You should hear his version of Lucille.

In March of 2011, bluesman Billy C. Farlow will return to France to tour with the Mercy Band and promote the new cd.
