Riley Watkins To Discuss Grandma's Roadhouse 

Everyone likes a good story. The Riley Watkins story proves to be one you should hear. This Alabama guitarist and songwriter stands as an obscure American hero that any real music fan would love.

A couple of weeks ago, Grandma's Roadhouse was released on Delmore Records 40 years after being recorded. Watkins' band, Riley, recorded Grandma's Roadhouse at Bradley's Barn in Mt. Juliet, Tennessee, in 1970. It's an interesting tale regarding why the record now emerges 40 years later. It stands the test of time...

I spoke with Watkins briefly today on the phone from his home in Alabama. On Monday, we'll conduct a full interview that will cover his music, songwriting, his partnership with the late country songwriter Gary Stewart as well as the facts surrounding this great album. Watkins informed me he'll perform a gig in Nashville on October 9.
