Promise to Thomas is First of Four Excellent Southern Rock Festivals Coming Soon

Several benefits and outdoor festivals are on tap for the coming months, including a Southern Rock benefit in North Carolina this weekend,

Promise To Thomas is a benefit show  that will take place tomorrow,  May 9th at 487 Blossom Ferry Rd. in Castle Hayne, N.C. The event will benefit Thomas King, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ryan King.

Ryan is frontman and singer of the Lynyrd Skynyrd Tribute Band Tuesday's Gone, Ryan’s youngest son was born with a rare birth defect called Hirschsprungs Disease. Though he has some insurance, other personal expenses have to be met. Only one in 500,000 children are born with it. Thomas, along with other Hirschsprungs children, were born without the
necessary cells in his intestines which absorb the nutrients needed to stay alive. 

Bands performing at the benefit include classic Southern rockers Nantucket, Jimmie Van Zant, Medusa Stone, Total Strangers, G.W. Pierce,and Tuesday's Gone.

Other activities include boat rides, BBQ pork and chicken plates, a Poker Run and river tours, raffles, and camping. Gates open at 10:00am and admission is just a $10.00 donation, although all donations are welcome.

A benefit concert is scheduled for Jo Jo Billingsley White, one of the original Lynyrd Skynyrd’s “Honkettes,” now an ordained minister and gospel singer. Jo Jo was recently diagnosed with cancer, and has undergone extensive surgery. Rockin For The Cause " Jammin For JoJo" has a Facebook page that has been set up for the event.

The show, which will be hosted by The Southern Boys Band, will feature former members of some of the greatest Southern Rock bands ever.  It will take place on Saturday, May 15, 2010 from 2:00 pm - 8:00 pm at Black Creek Park, 900 Rowe Dr,, Fultondale, Alabama. Gates open at 1:00 pm. Admission is a 10 dollar donation for adults kids 12 and under get in free.

Over 30 bands will perform at the Second Annual Hoopee Jam, a 4-day music, arts and camping festival on a 100 acre private farm in Norristown (Emanuel County), GA May 13 -16, 2010. Performers include national touring artists The Lee Boys, Jimmy Hall of Wet Willie, Tommy Talton Band, Randall Bramblett, Moon Taxi, Tommy Crain & the Crosstown Allstars, Kofi Burbridge and Todd Smallie of The Derek Trucks Band and  many more.
