Excerpt From Today’s Interview with Truth & Salvage’s Walker Young
This afternoon I interviewed Walker Young from the Truth And Salvage Company. On May 25, Truth And Salvage’s debut record hits the streets—and it’s a good one. We discussed the band’s North Carolina origins, songwriting, the new release, recent songs and upcoming tour plans. Truth and Salvage exists as a band everyone will hear more about soon. They stand as a formidable collection of songwriters. In this excerpt from today’s interview, Walker explains how the band became involved with Chris Robinson of The Black Crowes and Silver Arrow Records.
Walker Young: We met a manager named Pete Angelus through a common friend. He’s the manager for The Black Crowes. We really worked in the woodshed for a year. We were rehearsing a bunch and we weren’t really doing that many shows. Pete came in and watched us play in our rehearsal space and he decided he wanted to get involved. He thought Chris would be a good person to produce our record because Chris moves into working on different projects and producing.
"Chris came in and liked the band as well. They signed us to Silver Arrow Records, which is The Black Crowes label they started releasing their own music. We were the first band they signed on Silver Arrow. That’s how we got involved with Chris and then we went on tour with The Black Crowes that fall—August through December and that was awesome as well. We got to garner new fans. Now, with this new record…we just wanted to release it at the right time, which is now…”
