Big 12 Daily Fever: Texas Survives Big Red Scare

Texas only got 13 points in their 13th victory, but it was just enough to get by Nebraska for the Big 12 Championship. The ugly defensive battle ended 13-12 on the last play of the game, and it sends the Longhorns to a BCS Title tilt against Alabama.

But what a difficult path it was for Colt McCoy and the Texas offense to get to that last play. Pressured all night by Ndumakong Suh and the Husker defense, the senior quarterback found his team trailing 12-10 with less than two minutes to go. But he and a key personal foul penalty got the 'Horns in field goal range quickly.

Then inexplicably, McCoy seemed unaware of the clock running out and casually threw a last-second pass out of bounds. The clock read zeroes as Nebraska rushed the field in celebration, but the referee put one second back on the clock that allowed Hunter Lawrence's 46-yard field goal to win it.

It was a scary ending for Texas fans, but all that was forgotten as the Longhorns stormed the field at Cowboys Stadium. Mack Brown's crew will now have the opportunity to play for their school's second BCS Title this decade, with the other Championship being that memorable USC victory in Pasadena in 2005.
