Big 12 Daily Fever: Unlikely Candidate Leads OSU Comeback

What a wild win for Mike Gundy's Oklahoma State club on senior night in Stillwater.

With starting QB Zac Robinson unable to play and backup Alex Cate struggling, the Cowboys turned to third-string quarterback Brandon Weeden to spark OSU from an 11-point second half deficit to a 31-28 comeback victory over Colorado.

Weeden, a former baseball pitcher who was a former second-round pick of the New York Yankees, threw for 168 yards and two touchdowns in the second half to lead the Cowboys to a win in a very close contest.

Once again, Mike Gundy has shown he's building a solid program and not just having a couple of good years. The Cowboys have been without running back Kendall Hunter and star wide receiver Dez Bryant for much of the season, but the wins have still been there. Colorado was primed to pull the upset, but the unlikely Weeden became the hero in rallying OSU to an important victory.

Now, Gundy's club will have momentum and a couple extra days of rest before the Bedlam Game in Norman next week.  A victory over the Sooners remains the real measuring stick.
