Big 12 Daily Fever: Nebraska Shuts Down Oklahoma Offense

Posted: Nov 09, 2009

Oklahoma’s season went from frustrating to worse Saturday as Nebraska’s defense controlled the battle of the ‘Big Reds’ for a 10-3 win.

Quarterback Landry Jones threw five interceptions, kicker Tress Way missed three field goals, and OU was held without a touchdown for the first time since 1998. It’s games like these where the losses of Sam Bradford and Jermaine Gresham show up the most, and the Sooners dropped out of the Top 25 with their fourth defeat.

It was a big time win for Bo Pelini’s bunch, who now have won two in a row after dropping late October home games against Texas Tech and Iowa State. If the Huskers can take care of business at Kansas this Saturday, they will set up a potential contest for the North Title the following week against Kansas State in Lincoln.

The Nebraska offense is still struggling, but Pelini’s defense looks as good as any unit in the conference.
