Hillsides of kudzu lead you into the town of Athens, Georgia.  Athens, located on the Oconee River, serves as the home to The University of Georgia, R.E.M., the independent publisher Hill Street Press, The Georgia Review and the Georgia Bulldogs.

A city of almost 120,000 people—Georgia’s fifth largest city—Athens has always operated at the heart of the state’s culture. The vibrant Arts and Music scene contributes to the diverse bohemian, collegiate and working citizenry as well as the verdant landscape, old architecture, music stores, book shops, bars, restaurants, music venues, theatres and history.

I’d like to direct everyone’s attention to Swampland’s new Athens, Georgia page located here.  I hope that everyone who has ever had a connection to Athens, Georgia will join this Facebook page as a fan and check out its sister page on Swampland.com, which is here.

We start off the launch of our Athens' pages with my recent interview with the owner of Athens’ Georgia Theatre, Wilmot Greene.  You can read all about his life as a Georgia native and his effort to rebuild the Georgia Theatre after it was gutted by fire this past summer.
