Big 12 Daily Fever: OSU-Texas Should Be a Barnburner

Posted: Oct 28, 2009

Texas and Oklahoma State will meet in Stillwater this Saturday night in what looks to be the Big 12 game of the year.

The enthusiasm of the Cowboys fan base was huge after an opening win against SEC foe Georgia, but that was quickly quelled by a home loss the following week to Houston. Mike Gundy’s has rebounded well from their only defeat, especially now that they are not playing with top weapon Dez Bryant.

The All-American wide receiver has been ruled ineligible for the season by the NCAA. Gundy’s offense has been impressive without Bryant (and without top running back Kendall Hunter for much of the year), and they will now face their toughest test of the season against Texas’ defense.

For the Longhorns, this game looks all too similar to last year’s Texas Tech trip where their '08 Title hopes ended. Texas faces another road game against an up-and-coming South Division team with a solid offense and an improving defense. Mack Brown’s club should be ready to go this season, as their path to both the Big 12 and BCS Title games could almost be locked up with a victory in Stillwater.
