Halloween In New Orleans: Panic, Truckers & NO Musicians Clinic Conjure Good Mojo

Posted: Oct 22, 2009

A Season of the Witch in The Crescent City: Widespread Panic, Drive By Truckers & New Orleans Musicians Clinic Help At Halloween

In this season of the witch, it's good to know the music serves as medicinal mojo. One could never say southern musicians aren't gracious folk. The Drive By Truckers and Widespread Panic team up in a Rock N Raffle at the Voodoo Experience this year in New Orleans. Proceeds in this Truckers/Panic raffle go to Nuci's Space. These two Athens, Georgia, bands perform on a Voodoo Fest bill that also includes Kiss, The Flaming Lips, Jane's Addiction and many more. Panic's John Bell said of the 2009 festival: "The Voodoo Experience has been kicking ass for ten years and adding to the spell New Orleans has on the rest of the country and beyond. Hope it's scary..."

The next day Widespread Panic keyboardist, John Hermann, will perform alongside Ivan Neville, George Porter Jr., Russell Batiste and Ian Neville at the Howlin Wolf. This festive music gathering works in conjuction with "Down On The Bayou", a benefit for the New Orleans Musicians Clinic. A voodoo weekend in New Orleans would be a good time to soak up the culture where all artists, vendors and treasure-seekers converge for a handcrafted experience. It's also a good time to seek the good cause.

It should be the best place and time in the world to fend off the world's Black Magic...
