Big 12 Daily Fever: Gundy Has OSU in Big 12 Contention

Posted: Oct 21, 2009

It’s been quite the rollercoaster for Mike Gundy’s Oklahoma State team. The renovated Pickens Stadium played host to a huge opening week victory over Georgia, and then to a crushing loss to Houston just a week later. The Cowboys have weathered injuries to stars like Kendall Hunter and the suspension of All-American receiver Dez Bryant to sit at 5-1 at the midpoint of the season.

Even without Bryant, the rest of the receivers have picked up the slack and helped the Cowboys offense continue to be a force. That high-powered attack should lead OSU to another victory in Waco this weekend, setting up a conference title clash against Texas the following week.

Gundy is building a solid foundation in Stillwater, and that battle with the Longhorns could be a high point for the program.

For the first time in the Big 12's existence, the Texas-Oklahoma game that matters won't feature the Sooners.  It will feature the Cowboys.
