Big 12 Daily Fever: Mizzou Suffers Loss With Brutal 4th Quarter

Posted: Oct 09, 2009

It looked good for three quarters. Missouri was up 12-0 over Nebraska in a game that saw a torrential downpour throughout the night in Columbia. Unfortunately for the Tigers, a more painful downpour came in the 4th quarter as the Cornhuskers piled up 27 unanswered points and defeated Mizzou 27-12.

New quarterback Blaine Gabbert had played so well in the first four games, and it looked Missouri was about to continue a stellar season that was defining the Tiger’s program as one that was not going to suffer from massive offseason personnel losses. But that rough 4th quarter included two key Gabbert interceptions, and the Nebraska onslaught ensued.

Bo Pelini’s club now has to be the favorite in the North Division, while Missouri prepares for Oklahoma State and Texas the next two weeks and tries to recover from their crushing meltdown.
