On Saturday and Sunday, The Allman Brothers and Widespread Panic performed in Charlotte, North Carolina. Warren Haynes missed his flight on Saturday. Gregg was having back trouble and he played more guitar during the show but they still rocked. Bloodkin's Daniel Hutchens sat in with Panic on his song "End of the Show". Derek Trucks even sat in with Panic. Musical fun is afoot on this tour. They're in Columbia, Maryland tonight.
Yesterday, as I drove to South Georgia and Panic archivist Horace Moore rode to Columbia I recorded a bit of our conversation regarding Panic's new Archive Montreal release that comes out today. We also discussed his plans to document Panic's tour with The Allman Brothers, which should make for interesting history. I asked Horace to provide a glimpse into his ongoing documentation of this current tour and he elaborated:
"We started off with the shows in Charlotte then the shows at Columbia. I'll have a day off in Athens when we're coming back through on our way to Birmingham. We'll do a couple of shows there then--Knoxville and Nashville. I thought no better way to document this than to take these travel experiences and with a couple of friends we're putting it all together. I'll be on the crew bus for the rest of the leg after that. All those different perspectives should provide some great insight into this tour. Also, for the fans who can't make it they can enjoy it from home. I'll be writing my blogs from the road. I've been this upcoming venue with The Grateful Dead in the late 80s. It will be an interesting perspective from the road..."
