SEC Daily Fever: Auburn Faces Offensive Shootout At Arkansas

Posted: Oct 06, 2009

While most of the attention in the league has gone to the three teams in the Top 4 of the polls, maybe the best story of the early season has been the resurgence of Auburn.

With their 26-22 win at Tennessee, Gene Chizik has the Tigers sitting at 5-0 and in the Top 25. Senior quarterback Chris Todd has been a new player after offseason shoulder surgery, and he has run Gus Malzahn’s fast-paced offense with optimum efficiency.

Next up for Auburn is a tough road trip to Arkansas, a team coming off an impressive 47-19 victory over Texas A&M in Dallas. The Hogs played much better on defense against the Aggies, and they will need a similar performance to stop the high scoring Tigers.

Unlike many building programs, Auburn has shown steady improvement from week to week against improving opponents.  This schedule has allowed them to build confidence.

This week will be no different than last week's first real road test in Knoxville.  Auburn will face the best offense they've played all year, and they will be on the road again.  This might be the Tigers best test since West Virginia.

Look for a ton of passes and points in this high octane matchup early Saturday afternoon on ESPN.
