SEC Daily Fever: Georgia Looks To Define 2009 Season Against LSU
Posted: Oct 02, 2009Saturday’s huge clash between Georgia and LSU will go a long way in defining the Bulldogs’ season.
Mark Richt’s bunch is 3-1, a pretty solid record for a team with a tough schedule during the opening month. However, those three wins have all been narrow escapes that have Dawg fans wondering just how good their club really is.
Those questions will be answered ‘Between the Hedges’ this weekend as the visiting Tigers will pose a big challenge. The keys for a Georgia victory over fourth-ranked LSU seem pretty cliché; less turnovers, better defense, and production from the running game. It may be surprising that a Richt-coached team is struggling in those areas, but that is the reality so far in the ’09 season.
The Bulldogs cannot simply rely on going to the air and having Joe Cox and A.J. Green try to out gun LSU. Georgia must play more of a ball control game, plus cover better in the secondary, if they want to take down the highly-rated Tigers.
The Bulldogs already defined one team's season by losing to Oklahoma State and making them (briefly) a top 5 team. They can define their own season by taking a top team down on Saturday.
