Big 12 Daily Fever: Mike Leach Tries To Downplay Tech vs Texas

Posted: Sep 18, 2009

Big 12 Daily Fever is the top Big 12 story of the day. Disagree? Let us know.

Texas is ready to tackle a key step towards their goal of a Big 12 (and National) Title when they host Texas Tech Saturday night.

The Red Raiders are trying to stay near the top of the conference pecking order while breaking in new quarterback Taylor Potts. With his team’s lowered expectations, Mike Leach is trying to pump up his squad by emphasizing their underdog role:

“I would imagine that Texas has their focus on all the ranked opponents they play down the road, so I would imagine we're kind of another game for them,” Leach said.

Nice try Coach. It’s safe to say the Longhorns have seen the Michael Crabtree winning-catch highlight from last year’s thriller enough times to have them more than ready for the Red Raiders. Texas knows that Oklahoma is struggling and can see a clear path to their goals if they can take care of last season’s nemesis.
