Big 12 Daily Fever: Aggies Early Schedule Helps To Build Youth and Momentum

Posted: Sep 10, 2009

Big 12 Daily Fever is the top ACC story of the day. Disagree? Let us know.

After a 41-6 blowout of New Mexico, there is finally some optimism for Texas A&M fans.

Most Mike Sherman’s top playmakers were sophomores and freshman, so there is definitely a youth movement going on in College Station.  A&M finished in the Top 25 in Rivals recruiting rankings in February, and Sherman is wasting no time in getting those talented players on the field.

With a bye week before facing Utah State and UAB, the Aggies have a chance to build up some heavy momentum before facing Arkansas at Cowboys Stadium later this month. That exposure in Dallas should give A&M another opportunity to showcase a rebuilding program that is already off to a solid start in 2010 recruiting with 20 verbal commitments.

There is no reason, with the money and tradition at Texas A&M plus the local talent base, that the Aggies should not be able to recruit with the big boys of the Big 12. Getting those top athletes will be the key for Sherman and his staff as they try to rebound from a last place finish in the South Division.
