Big 12 Daily Fever: OSU Battling Distractions Before Georgia Opener

Posted: Sep 02, 2009

Big 12 Daily Fever is the top Big 12 story of the day. Disagree? Let us know.

It’s been an interesting week in Stillwater as Oklahoma State prepares for their huge matchup with Georgia.

First, starting corner and kick returner Perrish Cox was arrested, and now comes the news that tight end Jamal Mosley, the projected starter, is leaving the team. That’s a little too much roster upheaval in a week where the Cowboys are preparing for one of their biggest openers in school history.

The significance of beating the Bulldogs cannot be overstated in Big 12 country. Mike Gundy’s club is not only trying to launch a magical 2009 season, but they are also playing for conference pride against an SEC foe and Barry Tramel points out.

The Cowboys, like so many others in the Big 12 South, have to work hard to ascend alongside the dominant duo of Texas and Oklahoma.  They can't have any excuses coming into what should be a breakout season in Stillwater.
