Big 12 Daily Fever: Led By Griffin, Baylor Looks Ready to Surprise

Posted: Aug 31, 2009

Big 12 Daily Fever is the top Big 12 story of the day. Disagree? Let us know.

When looking for candidates to challenge the “Big 2” in the South Division, most experts see Oklahoma State playing the role this season that Texas Tech played in 2008. One spoiler that could shake up the South is the under the radar Baylor Bears. Art Briles brought his wide-open offense from Houston to Waco last season, and the results were eye-opening.

He gets lost in the publicity of the many quality signal callers in the Big 12, but remember the name Robert Griffin. Under Briles, the freshman quarterback threw for over 2000 yards while running for over 800 last season. He was also responsible for 28 (15 pass, 13 run) touchdowns and should be ready to light up more scoreboards in 2009.

A revenge opener against Wake Forest will be important for Briles’ squad to show how much they have improved.
