The new Skynyrd is just great. They run the whole gamut from heavy rock to straight country. Billy Powell’s last performance. Review soon. Album drops in September.

2. ELVIS WEEK IN MEMPHIS  (Event)
This week is rocking in Memphis, Tennessee. All sorts of events are on tap for Elvis fans, including an appearance by legendary guitarist James Burton.

3. MIGHTY FIELD OF VISION (Internet Radio Station)
They have been broadcasting a free stream for years now with an eclectic mix of Southern music, from Eddie Hinton to Drive By Truckers, along with some good ol’ Southern Rock on the GRITZ Power Hour. Find it here.

4. ZOOEY DESCHANEL  (Actress/Musician)
She had me at “hello.” From her debut in the movie Elf to her wonderful new movie 500 Days of Summer and her music with She & Him, Zooey is one of my favorites. And it ain’t just because she is breathtakingly cute. Okay, you got me. It is because she is breathtakingly cute.

5. Street Singers, Soul Shakers, Rebels With A Cause  (Book)
This great coffee table book is packed with information and photos on the history of Macon, Georgia music from Little Richard and Otis Redding to The Allman Brothers Band.

6. LIVE NOTES FROM ATHENS  TOMMY TALTON BAND  (CD)
This is a great live album by former Cowboy co-founder Talton and his band. Check it out.

7. JULIE & JULIA  (Movie)
There’s no doubt in my mind that Meryl Streep will win the Oscar for her brilliant portrayal of “the French chef” Julia Child. Amy Adams is equally mesmerizing as Julie.

8. L.A. INK   (TV Show)
Yes, I got sucked back into so called “reality TV.” And a show about a tattoo parlor at that! But Kat is too cool for school, and it just blows my mind to see some of the art that put onto people’s skin.

9. FACEBOOK  (Web SIte)
Simply stated, Facebook has changed my life for the better, from reconnecting with family here and in California to promoting GRITZ, it's a good thing.

10. WOODSTOCK UNIVERSE  (Web Site)
As we celebrate 40 years since the 3 days of peace and love this week, check out this ultra cool resource for all things Woodstock.

Not fair I can't wait for the new Skynyrd. I don't care what the " oh they are not the orginal" say. They Rock. take away the name and listen to the music. I saw them on the live from steel town tour. From the first note no one sat back down and everyone was voiceless from yelling. At the end we were exhausted and knew we had experenced something great.
