Truly an honorary southerner…Jerry Garcia was a bluegrass freak (he followed around Bill Monroe through the South in the early 60s) long before he became known as the lead guitar picker for the Grateful Dead. He always admired old-time southern string music. Garcia swore by all styles of American music...country, jazz, blues and surely rock and roll. And name me another American rock and roll band that played the Ancient Pyramids during a total full-moon eclipse? Garcia died 14 years ago today…we salute him…
