Big House Documentary Is A Great Tribute To The Allman Brothers Band
Posted: Jul 29, 2009A few years back I paid a visit to the famous “Big House” on Vineville Avenue in Macon, Georgia. Kirk and Kirsten West made me feel at home in this beautiful place, and I enjoyed every single moment I spent visiting. Even then, the house was beginning to become a museum. Kirk’s massive collection of Allman Brothers Band memorabilia adorned the walls, There were ABB road cases, guitars and more. I was just mesmerized by it all. You see, I am one of those long time (since 1972) devotees of the group that I have always cited as my number one favorite band, even above The Beatles and my home town boys, The Marshall Tucker Band.
I am happy to present my review of the DVD. It's a good one.

Hi My Dad, "Papa John" Griffin was on the road with the Allmans in the early 70's. In fact, the day my daughter was born, Sept. 11, 1971, I called my dad from the hospital room and he, being who he was, passed the phone around to all the "guys" so they could congratulate me! It was the best of times and it was, at times, the worst of times, but what a time it was!! Sorry I'm not in Sarasota for the film. Hope to catch it somewhere else. Peace Karin
