You can't say enough about Levon Helm. As the drumming singer in The Band, who defeated throat cancer to winning a GRAMMY for his album Dirt Farmer, has now released Electric Dirt. Electric Dirt contains 11 compositions that range from original tunes to The Grateful Dead to Muddy Waters. I can't think of any other group of musicians--which includes Bob Dylan's old guitarist Larry Campbell, Amy Helm, Byron Isaac's and a stellar group of deft pickers and players. Electric Dirt remains true to The Old American Songbook. I suggest you do yourself a favor and listen to this record for a reminder how what American music once sounded like. It's a gem. The album also speaks for the underdog American farmer...something we should all consider on a daily basis.
