Billy Bob Thornton On The Deaths of Three Friends in One Week

Posted: May 11, 2009

We asked Billy Bob Thornton to share his thoughts on three friends that all passed on to the other side this past week.

On Stephen Bruton: "It’s been a rough week for a lot of people. Stephen Bruton was a unique man and a unique musician. He left a spot at the table that will never be filled."

On James Poodie Locke: "Me and J.D. wrote a song for Poodie the day he died. That’s the best quote I can come up with.  Bowling and shooting dice ain’t ever gonna be the same again. That son of a bitch lived every minute. I loved him. So did everybody else."

(Details on Poodie's funeral may be found here.)

On Ean Evans: “Ean was a great guy and consummate musician who fit the legend of Lynyrd Skynrd like a glove. He never seemed like a new guy. That band doesn't have new guys. Just souls that were meant to be.  God Bless you Ean. Go fly high.”

We thank Billy Bob for his thoughts, and join him in sending out all the best energy and well wishes to these men's families, friends and fans.

Keep it Real. Keep it Southern.

flashing lights says...

A very common use of a strobe light today is in emergency vehicles, especially when the light needs to be fitted in a concealed manner. A police light can be fitted as a hideaway light into the headlight of a vehicle and will be completely invisible till it is activated. flashing lights are also extensively used in off-road car shows where multicolored strobes are used on cars to produce moving lights that can go up and down, to keep beat with the rhythm of the background music.

Met Poodie last year in Austin. He was a good man. I also met Billy Bob that same night, and could not believe what a genuine, honest, humble southern man he is. Forget the stupid Canada incident, the real Billy Bob is a good man a good performer, drummer, singer and a hell of an actor.

So sad to lose three friends so close together. Hang in there Billy Bob.
