Well, twas curiosity that drew me to the theater to view the remake of Friday The 13th. After a million sequels there was no place else to go but to start over, I guess. Let me sum it up for you. The original was better. Dumb kids camping, doing drugs, smokin’ a lot of dope, gratuitous sex scenes, and a new Jason who likes to run and hack people up with a machete.
Probably a good date movie. The movie is so predictable and uninteresting, you could make out instead of watching and not miss a thing. On the five star system, I give it a one. And that;s just for the hot babes.
The International was a pretty good flick, the story of the corrupt dealings of a huge bank that will go to any means possible to serve as a conduit for illegal weapons sales and money making schemes. Clive Owen is an Interpol agent who is teamed with a New York assistant District Attorney (Naomi Watts) to go after a network of Europeans and bring them down. This big budget flick was shot in Berlin, Italy, New York and Istanbul. Lots to look at and lots of action and intrigue, with a decidedly depressing ending. Three and a half stars.
She’s Just Not That Into You is a chick flick to be sure, but there were some fun parts to be enjoyed. A group of interconnected, Baltimore-based twenty- and thirtysomethings deal with dating and marriage. The all-star cast includes hotties like Jennifer Aniston, Scarlett Johansen and Drew Barrymore, along with Ben Afleck and the guy from the “I’m a Mac” commercials. Three Stars.
Push was a great sci-fi film. The Division, a shadowy government agency, is genetically transforming citizens into an army of psychic warriors and brutally disposing of those unwilling to participate. Chris Evans, Dakota Fanning, and Camilla Belle star in a very exciting, high tech world vision. Five Stars all the way.
Keep it Real. Keep it Southern.
