A couple of months ago when I was down in Huntsville, Alabama for Billy Bob Thornton and The Boxmasters, I got to spend a little time with Muscle Shoals songwriting legend Donnie Fritts. We made plans to do a big GRITZ interview, and just as I was about to interview Donnie, I heard from a Shoals writer named Eric Gebhard, a friend of Dick Cooper. Eric had a new Fritts interview ready to roll. The magazine he wrote it for ceased publication, at least for a while, and Cooper suggested Eric offer the story to GRITZ, which he did. So, we are very pleased to present Eric's interview with our friend, the one and only Leaning Man of Alabam,' Funky Donnie Fritts.
Keep it Real. Keep it Southern.
