Another Day In Pursuit of the Story

Yesterday proved interesting. Chuck Leavell returned an email request through his publicist to interview him. He told me he was up for it. When I reminded Chuck Widespread Panic asked me to write their bio for their induction into the Georgia Music Hall of Fame, he asked me to send what I wrote because he would be reading it. I sent it along. We’ll be talking next week. I came across Al Kooper’s blog that talks about Bob Dylan that I thought was an interesting perspective. Al Kooper never lost his southern instincts.
Also, a great tribute to Roy Harper features Chris Robinson, Jonathan Wilson and Gary Louris performing songs for the Hallucinating Light collection. Also, here’s some photos from the Levon Helm show that included Chris Robinson and Billy Bob Thornton. While entertaining a female friend last night, the phone rang and it was Luther Dickinson. I was in a predicament, answer the lead guitar player of The Black Crowes phone call, or suffer scorn from a female companion. Well, Luther left a killer message which included him playing a little blues ditty over the phone. Now that’s a friend. I sent Luther a message today as well as Adam MacDougall. More on the pesky Crowes later...they’ve had a week off, and tomorrow night they play the 105th Harley Davidson Celebration in Milwaukee. They head south soon…
A whirlwind of events approaches. I’m still hammering on the lengthy Bruce Burch interview. Many reviews wait to be written. September may prove my busiest month all year. Now, it’s time to tend to my own business. I get by with a little help from my friends. Talk to yins over the Labor Day weekend…
