Georgia Falls In College World Series...Random Notes...
6/25/08
The Fresno State Bulldogs beat The Georgia Bulldogs tonight 6-1 in the College World Series. Georgia was never in the game. I'm anticipating football season. Speaking of these two sports, Atlanta writer Paul Hemphill's new book on Auburn football should be in bookstores soon to coincide with the upcoming season.
I'm still transcribing my extensive interview with the great Charlie Musselwhite...while I'm doing that I'll watch Tift Merritt on David Letterman tonight. As an Honorary Southern Artist, Neil Young's new Q & A with Billboard proves worth reading.
Levon Helm and his band just finished a short tour with Phil Lesh of the Grateful Dead. In less than a week, I'll interview Otis Redding's old songwriting partner Steve Cropper...duties and distractions call...

Steve Cropper is so much fun to interview. Be sure to ask him about his recent Australian Tour backing GUY SEBASTIAN. Guy and Steve, Duck Dunn, Steve Potts and Lester and Patricia Snell all toured. Last year they made a Soul tribute album at Artdent studios Memphis called THE MEMPHIS ALBUM which is to be released in the USA early 2009. Here in Australia it went trple platinum. A really stunning piece of work recorded to analog tape the old fashioned way. Guy Sebastian's vocals will astound you - he's truly an old SOUL.
