Senator Robert Brown of Georgia has announced thet Phil Walden will be honored this Thursday, June 5th at 12 Noon in Macon, Georgia. A ceremony will name the I-16 / Martin Luther King Jr exchange in Honor of the Capricorn Records founder. The ceremony will be held at Gateway Park in front of The Otis Redding Statue. In case of rain, the ceremony will be moved to The Douglass Theatre.
We at Swampland are very happy to hear of the honor. Now we'd like to see a life sized bronze statue downtown near the new Capricorn Museum. In my opinion, nobody did more for Southern Rock than Walden, and he should never ever be forgotten.
Keep it Real. Keep it Southern.

Phil Walden was the true father of southern rock. I for one will never forget that.
