Today I'd like to bring back three more classic features from our GRITZ archives, for your enjoyment and information.
The first one is an interview Scott Greene conducted eight years ago with Jimmie Van Zant, cousin of the Van Zant brothers, Ronnie, Donnie and Johnny. Given the success Jimmie is currently enjoying, it is a lot of fun revisiting Scott's interview.
Secondly, we have reposted a nice one on one with the legendary Muscle Shoals drummer Jerry Carrigan, and we revisit Dick Cooper's excellent 2000 article on the Legendary Johnson Family of Muscle Shoals, featuring Jimmy Johnson, his Dad Cowboy Ray and Jimmy's son Jay.
Check 'em out and let me know what you think.
Keep it Real. Keep it Southern.

I used to think Jimmie was a no talent trying to capitalize on Ronnie's name, but after seeing him live I feel he is his own man with a lot of respect for his more famous cousins.
