Swampland.com is proud to announce that we have joined Friends of New Orleans (FONO) as an official cultural partner for this worthy charity. Here is the mission statement of FONO direct from the official website:
Friends of New Orleans is a private, nonprofit, nonpartisan, membership organization that provides a vehicle for people in the US and abroad who care about this region, to declare their support and get involved.
Our mission is to:
New Orleans is one of our Footprint's oldest cities. It has been an economic and cultural engine for this country and a cultural bridge between our country and the world. FONO dedicates itself to the cause of supporting that history and to making sure the New Orleans remains great while continuing to grow and thrive in the future.
Hurricane Katrina was a tragedy of great proportions. Swampland shares FONO's belief that in the wake of this tragedy a crucial opportunity must not be ignored, the opportunity to support the preservation of New Orleans' past and to spur the ascension of New Orleans' future.
