The Paintings of Georgia Artist Steve Penley

The Paintings of Georgia Artist Steve Penley
By James Calemine

Born in Chattanooga, Tennessee, in 1964, Steve Penley was raised in Macon, Georgia. By the time he attended the University of Georgia, he'd been painting and drawing for as long as he could remember. His paintings evoke vivid emotion that emanates from the subject. Penley resides in Atlanta, Georgia.

Over the years, Penley's exhibitions have been displayed at the Coca-Cola Pop Art Gallery in Atlanta, The Georgia Music Hall of Fame in Macon, Meridian International Center in Washington D.C., New York Mercantile Exchange in New York City, the Dana Gallery in Missoula, Montana, Matre Gallery in Atlanta and a long list of others that rank him as a formidable talent. Just look at the work...it speaks for itself.

Penley's paintings have been featured in 19 books. Corporations such as Coca-Cola, Chick-fil-A, Luntz Global, Breitbart.com, Air Tran, Five Guys, ESPN Zone, Capricorn Records and the 2004 G8 Summit Host Committee--to name only a few--have commissioned Penley to create artwork for their companies.

Penley's latest book, Ronald Reagan And The American Ideal, is in bookstores now. His other books include Penley and The Reconstruction of America. Traces of pop art echo through his images of everyday America. Basic fundamental ideals of the country are painted and challange the viewer to make his or her own interpretations between the struggles of good and evil in this country. His paintings fill homes owned by everyone from schoolteachers and cooks to athletes and U.S. Senators. His work transcends labels and contains universal appeal...from children to the elderly...

In Penley's most recent blog, he provides a glimpse into working on a painting in the middle of Times Square. The paintings of Steve Penley capture the American spirit...
