The Cowboy House in Cochran, GA. Actually called "The Shedd House" at the time, it was where Cowboy lived, rehearsed and partied. On this day, their friends The Allman Brothers Band set up and played in the front yard for a few lucky friends.

Jim Hawkins: "In April of 1968, after completing the active duty part of my military service, I moved to Macon, Georgia and began building a recording studio in the back part of this storefront at 445 Broadway. We called it the Otis Redding Memorial Studio and didn't know it would become Capricorn Records. At that time we expected to make R&B recordings in the tradition of Memphis and Muscle Shoals."

Jim Hawkins: "Paul Hornsby, seated at the piano here, was our keyboard man. In this picture he is surrounded by the rest of the rhythn section plus "Little Tommy" in the hat and producer/songwriter Jerry "Swamp Dogg" Willams in the blue shirt. "
Jim Hawkins: "Tommy Dowd was at this point in his career an engineering legend with Atlantic Records. He'd done many of my favorite records including the early Ray Charles recordings. He was looking for opportunities as a producer, and I think this session with Oscar Tony was his first at our studio. I engineered for him again a few months later when we worked on The Allman Brothers' "Idlewild South". On that session we cut "Midnight Rider", "Elizabeth Reed" and "Hoochie Coochie Man". We also recorded "Statesboro Blues", but it was not included on the album. I must have ask Tommy a thousand questions, and I still use several miking techniques that I learned from him."
